Sufi Remembrance: Colors Through Anab

Interrogative Imperative Institute

Sufi Remembrance: Colors Through Anab is a follow up to the CD: Floetry In Mystical Motion.

Like Floetry, Sufi Remembrance combines music and poetry to give expression to various rhythms, ideas, and running rhymes that, God willing, will resonate with the heart and soul of the listener. While Floetry was written from the perspective of a Sufi, the Sufi Remembrance CD is more narrowly focused than the first CD and, as a result, concentrates more directly on ideas, principles, teachings, practices, and values of the Sufi mystical path.

About 'Sufi Remembrance'

Many of the selections on Sufi Remembrance bear the name of the individual whose writings serve as the inspirational basis for the poem and accompanying music. Other selections are entitled with something other than names of spiritual personalities but, nonetheless, still are based on the writings and teachings of prominent Sufis.

Two of the selections are titled, respectively: 'Mecca' and 'Medina'. The poems were written in remembrance of my first visit to the holy places, more than 35 years ago.

The selection: 'Last Sermon' is an English rendering of the final khutbat or sermon that was given by Hazrat Muin-ud-Din Chishti Ajmeri (may Allah be pleased with him). The final selection on the CD is entitled: 'Salaam' and is for, and in remembrance of, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
